Waxx Lyrical is an independent record club and boutique online store based in Brisbane, Australia. Since 2019, we've been curating iconic albums and hidden gems for a global community of vinyl lovers. Think of us as your friendly neighbourhood tastemakers—only with better records and international postage.
Who runs Waxx Lyrical?
It’s curated by Ben Preece, alongside a trusted and knowledgeable board of confidantes. In 2023, Lauren Tucker joined to help bring even more community connection to the fold. Together with our team of writers, reviewers, and photographers, we live and breathe music.
What is the mission behind Waxx Lyrical?
We believe the album is an art form—and that music is best experienced slowly, deeply, and on wax. We’re here to connect listeners through curation, conversation, and community.

How does the Record of the Month club work?
Every month, we select a standout record—whether it’s a timeless classic, an underrated gem, or a modern must-have—announce it during the first week of the month and send it straight to your door. Members receive welcome goodies, occasional Feature Records, exclusive discounts, and invites to our Vinyl Verdict community chat.
How much does membership cost?
From as little as $2 a day. Flexible plans available (monthly, three monthly, six monthly, annual, and gift options), and all prices include shipping within Australia.

What if I don't want the ROTM?
If a selection isn’t your vibe, or you already have it, you’ll have the option to swap it before shipping. We’ll always give you a heads-up and alternatives.
Can I gift a membership?
Yes—and it’s a damn good gift. You can choose from our gift plans and include a personal message. We handle the rest, including delivery and welcome packs.
How do I cancel my membership?
You probably won't want to, but you can cancel or pause at any time via your account dashboard in Chargebee. Failing that, hit us on email and we can help you out. But we’d love to hear from you first—often there’s a fix that doesn’t mean goodbye.

Do you ship internationally?
We do! Rates vary by region and are calculated at checkout. Note that customs fees may apply depending on your country.
When do records ship each month?
It varies, but we typically try to ship around the middle of each month. It is dependant on where in the world our supplier is, but we'll always keep you in the loop. You’ll receive a notification via the Australia Post app with tracking info once your pack is on its way.
What if my record arrives damaged?
We're serious about condition. If something’s damaged or off, email us with photos and we’ll sort a replacement or refund where needed.

Can I buy records without being a member?
Yes—but priority and pricing always favour members. Our ROTMs remain exclusive to our members until all is shipped and then it's open to all. Our store stocks new arrivals, limited pressings, and past ROTMs, but things move quickly.
Do you do exclusive pressings or artist collaborations?
We do! We’ve collaborated with Sub Pop, EMI, Universal, Communion UK and more. If you’re an artist or label, hit us up—we love working closely to get music into the hands of true fans.
Do members get discounts on other records?
Yep. You're given a discount code upon becoming a member which gives you VIP pricing on almost everything in the store.
Do you only sell brand new records?
Nope! While the majority of our records are brand new and sourced from trusted distributors and label partners, we also offer a carefully curated selection of preloved vinyl. These are hand-graded, cleaned, and only listed if they meet our quality standards. You’ll always know what you're getting—we’re collectors too.
Do you buy preloved records?
Yes! We’re always on the lookout for quality second-hand vinyl. If you’ve got a collection to sell—whether it’s a handful of records or crates full—we’d love to hear from you. We offer fair, transparent pricing and only buy what fits our store’s vibe and standards. Just get in touch with a list or photos and we’ll take it from there.

What is the Vinyl Verdict?
It’s our monthly community session—part listening party, part music nerd chat. Held over Zoom, it’s where we unpack the Record of the Month, talk music obsessions, and sometimes bring in artists or label guests. It's evolved into quite the monthly event that all look forward to. Friendships have been formed, it's all about connection. All members welcome.
Do you hold events?
Yes, we do. We present films, live shows, listening parties and even tours, plus we’ve hosted pop-up performances, DJ sets and artist Q&As in collaboration with some of our favourite venues and festivals. Whether online or in person, it’s all about bringing people together over music.
What makes the Waxx Lyrical community special?
This is a tough one to put into words clearly. We have somehow managed to attract some of the most wonderful people we've ever had the privilege of encountering into this club. It’s not just a subscription—it’s a culture. We’re a growing network of curious listeners, passionate collectors, and open-hearted music fans.
