Glasgow duo Honeyblood—frontwoman Stina Tweeddale and drummer Cat Myers—didn’t just return with their second album Babes Never Die in 2016; they detonated it onto the scene. Released via Fat Cat Records, this was no quiet sequel—it was a battle cry.
Their self-titled debut Honeyblood (2014) had already turned heads, crashing into year-end lists with near-perfect reviews from the likes of NME, DIY, Mojo, and Uncut. But Babes Never Die upped the stakes. Lead single ‘Ready for The Magic’ kicks the door down with detuned doom riffs, disco-punk rhythms, and a tornado of a chorus that captures the reckless, all-consuming rush of infatuation. It’s Honeyblood at their most intense and their most irresistibly hook-laden.
Recorded at London’s Fish Factory Studios with James Dring (Jamie T, Gorillaz), the album pulses with late-night energy and a sense of urgency. “The title is my own mantra,” says Stina. “Indifference is a plague. Giving up and turning a blind eye will be the end of us. Never before has that been more true.”
